Dr. Philip Kang
Dr. Philip Kang is a full Professor & Program Director of Periodontics at Columbia University College of Dental Medicine.
Dr. Kang is a recognized lecturer and researcher on dental implant-related topics, laser therapy, as well as traditional periodontal therapy. He is involved in multiple clinical research trials evaluating immediate dental implant placement, immediate provisionalization and loading, various surgical techniques, designs of dental implants, laser-assisted treatment of periodontal diseases and peri-implantitis, and management of complications.
He earned his dental degree from the University of Michigan. Subsequently, he pursued advanced training, obtaining certificates in Advanced Education in General Dentistry (AEGD) and Periodontics from Harvard University and the University of Pennsylvania, respectively.
Dr. Kang’s contributions to the field extend beyond clinical practice; his research endeavors on implant-related topics have resulted in numerous publications in esteemed peer-reviewed journals. Furthermore, Dr. Kang is dedicated to sharing his passion and expertise through extensive lecturing engagements, contributing to the dissemination of knowledge on various implant applications in dentistry.
Dr. Kang is actively involved in professional societies for dentistry and periodontics, contributing as the President of the Northeastern Society of Periodontists, Chair of the Program Directors Committee for the American Academy of Periodontology, a site visitor for the Commission on Dental Accreditation, Chair and a test constructor for the American Academy of Periodontology In-Service Examination Committee and the American Dental Association Board of Trustees Dental Licensure Objective Structured Clinical Examination (DLOSCE), and a member of the Northeast Society of Periodontists Board of Directors.
Dr. Kang has lived in the greater New York area almost all of his life. He has treated patients for more than 15 years in Fort Lee, New Jersey and also lives in Fort Lee with his wonderful family.
